It will be 20 years ago in July 2012 that Astor Piazolla died in Buneos Aires. The Sexteto Mayor will be availbale for a number of concerts next year to honour the legendary bandoneon player. No other ensemble but the Sexteto Mayor would be more suitable to play his music: they received the "Latin Grammy® Award" in 2003 for their album "Hommenaje a Piazolla".
The most famous tango ensemble in the world performed in venues like Théatre des Champs Elysées (Paris), Teatro Victoria (Madrid), Deutsche Oper (Berlin), Philharmonie (Cologne), Teatro Tivoli (Helsinki) and the Kreml in Moscow.
Travelling party: 7 ( 6 musicians + 1 tour manager)

TOP RANKED WORLD MUSIC CHARTS EUROPE
Vieux Farka Toure's third and best studio album, The Secret (Six Degrees Records) was produced by guitarist Eric Krasno (of Soulive fame). The album features Dave Matthews, Derek Trucks, John Scofield, Ivan Neville and Vieux's final collaboration with his legendary father, Ali Farka Toure.
Vieux is currently on rank # 1 World Music Charts Europe with his new album.

WOMEX AWARD 2011
Hugh Masekela (awarded with two Grammies) is Africa´s most important jazz and world musician. He has been on TV worldwide several times in the last two years and highlighted a number of international festivals. All concerts in 2010 were great events (e.g. at Carnegie Hall or the Royal Festival Hall). Hugh Masekela started this year as a special guest of U2 in South Africa and toured the USA in June where he performed with Wynton Marsalis at the Hollywood Bowl. He came to Europe with his new project called "Hugh Masekela´s Celebrate Mama Afrika" - a wonderful show with Lira, Thandiswa and Vusi Mahlasela as special guests. The show was a big success and will be continued next year.
Hugh Masekela will receive the WOMEX Award for Artists
and will perform on Sunday morning, 30 October 2011, during the WOMEX Award Ceremony and do a second concert the same day in Copenhagen.

Omar Moctar - Bombino - is known as one of the great guitar players and performers in the Sahel regions and has a cult like following.
His latest CD "Agadez" (released by Cumbancha Discovery,April 2011) received the greatest reviews. Bombino is on a world tour right now - more than 60 concerts are confirmed so far. Songlines has featured Bombino - he performed at the Womad Festival inthe UK this year and will play the Barbican Center. His showcase at Womex will take place on Saturday. Regina Carter just played Mozart Festival in Wuerzburg and Nijmegen Music Meeting - both concerts (and also her sold out performance recently in Warsaw) were simply great. This is one of the most exciting line ups (see below) and a new brilliant sound in the jazz scene:

MoZuluArt is a unique and wonderful project - a fusion of traditional Zulu music with classical music and a little portion of jazz ... based mainly on Mozart compositions and South African Isicathamiya harmonies, which became famous all over the world thanks to Ladysmith Black Mambazo and Paul Simon.
MoZuluArt ´s caused a sensation when they opened the Vienna "Festwochen" performing together with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra in front of several hundred thousand people. They become a major success within shortest time: from the very beginning MoZuluArt attracted big crowds ... all curious to find out, how a meeting between Zulu music and Mozart would look & sound like. Wether they performed in a jazz, classical or world music surrounding: all concerts in the last three years ended with standing ovations...
"An African Christmas ..." is a special production in which MoZuluArt sings some of the most beautiful African and classical Christmas melodies ... the new CD with Universal Music has been released now.
