++ The River Banks // Starting from october 2011 //
Titi Robin’s style, though perfectly contemporary, is inherited from the many artistic styles that have grown up over the centuries along the shores of the Mediterranean, from the southern Balkans to North Africa, from southern Europe to the Mashreq. His music is not “fusion”. The music of the Mediterranean area has long formed a rich, diverse, yet homogeneous mosaic of different styles. As a creative musician of today, he explores and gathers together the various elements of that marvellous kaleidoscope of colours and cultures.
Today, in his own way, using his own vocabulary and language, and the compositions that relate his career and his identity, it is Titi Robin’s wish to pay tribute to the Ancients who, through their efforts, their research, their lives as artists and as human beings, helped to build up that treasure.
The aim of the project was to record a CD in three different countries, India, Turkey and Morocco.
Titi Robin has taken to each one a personal and original repertoire, representative of his own style but also of what he as a musician owes to each culture.
In each case a studio recording has been made with a group of musicians from the country and a local sound engineer. The disc, including mixing, production, visual presentation, has been made entirely with local partners.
Titi Robin a has written his experience, his encounters during the recordings in the blog "les Rives" :
